Getting started – Learn the basic React Native

Getting started – Learn the basic React Native

React Native is a framework for building mobile applications with JavaScript and leveraging Reactjs. It uses native UI components. If you are familiar with Reactjs, or come from front end development background, Reactjs uses a virtual DOM which acts as a shadow to real DOM available. When an element changes, that change is reflected in the real DOM by Virtual DOM using a node that corresponds to each element. However, in React Native, there is no DOM rather than Native Components which are provided by platforms such as iOS and Android. There are no web views here.

React Native has an instance of JavaScriptCore to execute JS code when an application starts. React Native uses RCTBridgeModule to make a connection between native code and JavaScript code. It is assumed that as you dwell more in development with React Native, you might come across using a third-party SDK for a specific mobile platform. This bridging will be very helpful.

Migration to androidX

Migration to androidX

Why?
If you’ve ever worked on an android project you must have had the chance to fight the libraries version. Android tried to split the  support libraries into smaller pieces, and we got some modularisation, (com.android.support:cardview-v7, com.android.support:recyclerview-v7),  but this approach has made things more complicated because of the versions. We are well aware of the mess with the backwards-compatibility-libraries v4, v7, v13, v8, v?.Android decided to make androidx to stop this version confusion so every support library like android.support.v7.recyclerview.extensions.AsyncDifferConfig is now androidx.recyclerview.widget.AsyncDifferConfig.

Health for coins, not dollars ;) – The “not so serious” Mapping of Healthcare Cryptocurrencies

At this years’ SXSW it was all about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, but it was like that at HIMSS, JPM, CES, etc. as well. Since we wrote already about the first of the two buzzwords – blockchain as a trend in Healthcare, we decided to tackle the idea of cryptocurrencies in healthcare. First, we checked around the office and found out that several devs have been in a couple of Telegram chat rooms as they tried to buy “health coins” in a presale (ICO – initial Coin Offering; Pre-ICO).
Will you be buying your next health plan with ethereum? Or is the new health coin going to solve the problem of fragmented healthcare records?

The five W’s and an H of Microservices in Healthcare

1. What are Microservices?

Microservices is almost a philosophy, as it is used to develop applications not piece by piece but by building all the pieces simultaneously by different teams. It is a special implementation approach for service-oriented architectures (SOA) used to build flexible, independently deployable software systems. Shortening the time to market, but also allowing for the system to be constantly improved and in theory much more scalable.
